Born in 1987, DeHaan began making appearances in television projects like the documentary "The Doomsday Flu" (The History Channel, 1998) and shorts while still in his teens. After graduating from the North Carolina School for the Arts, he headed north to New York City, where he made his stage debut as Haley Joel Osment's understudy in a 2008 Broadway production of "American Buffalo."
