Arsenio Hall was born on Feb. 12, 1956 in Cleveland, Ohio. The son of a Baptist minister, Hall often tried to escape his depressed inner-city neighborhood by imagining that he was a talk show host like his idol, Johnny Carson. In junior high school, he became an amateur magician, leading to performing tricks in front of an audience. After graduating from Warrensville Heights High School in Warrensville, OH, Hall attended Ohio University in Athens to study law, but switched his major to communications.
