The compact, light-haired actor made his screen debut in Bud Yorkin's "Twice in a Lifetime" (1985) and gave strong performances as a tabloid journalist in Michael Mann's "Manhunter" (1986) and as a closeted homosexual in "Last Exit to Brooklyn" (1989).
