In the early 1970s, The Source Family was an "Aquarian tribe" of 140 beautiful young people with colorful robes who were a fixture in Los Angeles and who were devotees of "Father Yod," a controversial restaurateur-turned-spiritual leader with fourteen wives and a psychedelic rock band. They lived commune-style in a mansion, embracing their outsider ideals. But their radical lifestyle became an issue for the local authorities, and they fled to Hawaii, leading to their painful and dramatic demise.
