Fifth Harmony’s '7/27' Leads Albums To Check Out
Ah, it’s the final new music release week in May! Like weeks prior, there are some highly anticipated albums. It’s a toss-up who’s the favorite – X-Factor US alums Fifth Harmony or well-established country singer Dierks Bentley. Regardless, both should make an impact on the Billboard 200. The rest of the newbies aren’t quite as ‘big’ but certainly seem worthwhile listening experiences…at least on paper…

1) Fifth Harmony, 7/27 (Epic)

7/27. 7/27 arrives little more than a year after the girl group’s debut Reflections. 7/27 runs just 12 tracks in its deluxe version. Single “Work from Hom...

Justin Bieber Thinks Awards Shows Are 'Hollow' After He Picks Up
Justin Bieber continues to confound his fans by admitting in an Instagram post that he thinks awards shows are "hollow" after picking up a Billboard Music Award.

In an Instagram post, the "Company" singer revealed his feelings about being lauded by the industry in a lengthy missive.

"I don't know about these award shows. No disrespect to anybody at any of the shows or the people running it. Nothing but love for you guys and your support. But I don't feel good when I'm there nor after," said the singer.

"I try to think of it as a celebration but can't help feeling like people are rating a...

Drake Makes It Three Weeks Atop the Billboard 200

Drake Makes It Three Weeks Atop the Billboard 200
Regardless of the criticism that has greeted Drake’s fourth studio album Views, it continues its stay atop the Billboard 200. In its third week in the penthouse, Views moves another robust total – the tune of 239,000 units. That is less than last week, unsurprising, but the most notable discrepancy this week is between streams plus sales versus pure sales. Only about 35% of the 239,000 units are pure sales (83,000)!

Interestingly, Beyoncé actually sold more albums than Drake, topping the Top Album Sales chart. The top album sales chart was formerly the Billboard 200 before the new SPS form...

How Does Ariana Grande’s New Album Stack Up?

Ariana Grande Keeps Things Fresh On 'Dangerous Woman'
Cutting straight to the chase, pop star Ariana Grande is a phenomenal singer, period. Grande has one of the silliest vocal ranges, hence, why she’s been viewed as a successor or younger version of Mariah Carey. While Grande hasn’t achieved the level of success of Carey, she’s clearly established herself as a heavyweight. On her third album Dangerous Woman, Grande takes a step forward, favoring a more mature, edgy sound compared to her first two albums.

“Moonlight” kicks off Dangerous Woman with a retro-soul ballad, definitely a contrast to the infectious “Problem” which served as My Everyt...

Britney Spears Slays Performance At Billboard Music Awards
Britney Spears just slayed her performance, opening the Billboard Music Awards in Las Vegas on Sunday evening. According to TVLine, the singer performed a medley of her greatest hits, showing off her incredible body and her impressive dance moves.

"Dressed in an uncharacteristically modest red trench coat, Spears kicked off her medley with 'Work B*tch,' before shedding her modesty for a steamy — and surprisingly bend-y — performance of 'Womanizer.' Then it was back to her Crossroads days for that iconic cover of “I Love Rock ‘n’ Roll,” followed by a lesser-known gem, 'Breathe on Me.'"

Slim (Of 112) Relies On Familiar Themes and Trends On 'Refueled'
After an eight-year hiatus, Slim returns to the music world. So, just in case anyone forgot (or never knew), Slim was known for being a member of R&B group 112, who last released an album in 2005 (Pleasure & Pain). As a solo artist, Slim hasn’t quite broken through, with 2008 album Love’s Crazy debuting modestly in the Top 40 of the Billboard 200. Nonetheless, Slim scored a moderate Billboard Hot 100 hit single “So Fly,” so things weren’t all “rain and thunderstorms.”

Refueled marks Slim’s second chance of sorts a solo artist at a time when R&B is the coolest (as in freezing/frigid) as it...

3OH!3 Deliver A Dumb, Enjoyable Album With 'Night Sports'
Four albums in and very little has changed about Boulder, Colorado duo 3OH!3 – they actually assert this on one of their songs. What exactly does that mean? It means the duo continue to produce some of the dumbest music out there. That’s no disrespect – literally, Sean Foreman and Nathaniel Motte “go stupid” with their mix of pop, electronic, and hip-hop. No matter how dumb it gets, there’s something endearing about the stupidity “on the track,” better yet on the duo’s fourth LP of corny frat pop-rap, Night Sports.

3OH!3 initiates Night Sports by proclaiming there’s “Fire in the Heavens....

Corinne Bailey Rae Returns Triumphantly On 'The Heart Speaks In
Where has she been? Who, you ask? Corinne Bailey Rae – that’s who! The Grammy-winning R&B singer/songwriter returns with The Heart Speaks In Whispers after a six-year hiatus. The last time that the world heard from Bailey Rae was 2010’s The Sea, which lamented the death of her husband. Over the course of The Heart Speaks In Whispers, Bailey Rae definitely sounds happier, and more importantly to the listeners’ ears, she doesn’t disappoint.

“The Skies Will Break” begins The Heart Speaks In Whispers energetically. Generally, Bailey Rae maintains the vocal poise she’s possessed since here 200...

Drake Spends A Second Week Atop The Billboard 200

Drake Spends A Second Week Atop The Billboard 200
In a development that’s surprising to no one, after a robust first week, Drake sees his fourth studio album Views remain firmly planted atop the Billboard 200. According to Billboard, Views moved another 219,000 units, with 80% of that total comprised of pure sales. Despite a huge drop in impact between week one and week two, Drake still himself to be the artist to beat this week (more on that later).

Beyoncé’s Lemonade spends a second week behind Drake’s Views in the runner-up slot after debuting at no. 1. While Lemonade’s “sweet” and glorious days atop the Billboard 200 may be done thank...
