The 1910 Fruitgum Company were a bubblegum pop band that exploded onto the National charts in 1968 with the first single, "Simon Says" which became a success, reaching #4 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart. The track peaked at #2 in the U.K. Singles Chart. The band was the brainchild of Buddah Record producers Jerry Kasenetz and Jeff Katz, who were looking for an alternative to the edgier rock music of the late '60s. The 1910 Fruitgum Company followed up their initial success of “Simon Says” with a tour, opening for The Beach Boys.
