Lee Fields is an American soul singer from Wilson, North Carolina. Heavily influenced by James Brown, his recording career began in the 1960s and continued into the 1970s with a series of funk and soul singles. Fields took a hiatus from recording for the majority of the 1980s before returning to the scene in the 1990s. His 1970s single “Funky Screw” and LP, “Let’s Talk It Over” became highly sought after for sampling in the hip-hop community of the late 1980s and early 1990s.
