Godsmack is an American heavy metal band from Lawrence, Massachusetts, formed in 1995. The band is composed of founder, frontman and songwriter Sully Erna, guitarist Tony Rombola, bassist Robbie Merrill, and drummer Shannon Larkin. In 1998, Godsmack released their self-titled debut album, a re-recording of their “All Wound Up” demo. The album was distributed by Universal/Republic Records and shipped five million copies in the United States. It peaked at #22 on the Billboard 200 Albums chart and featured the singles, "Whatever," “Keep Away," "Voodoo" and "Bad Religion" which all reached the Top 40 of the Billboard Modern Rock Tracks chart.
