Susanna Lee Hoffs was born January 17, 1959, in Los Angeles, California. She's best known as being the lead singer & guitarist of 80s all-girl group The Bangles. Hoffs grew up listening to the Beatles and began playing guitar when she reached her teens; however she originally planned for a career in dance. While pursuing her Bachelor's degree in Art at the University of California, Berkeley, Hoffs was a fan of rock music, and after going to a Patti Smith show at the legendary Winterland Ballroom she "realized that being in a band was the ultimate art project," according to her official site.
