Shining and Falling Stars: Snooki & Nicki Minaj

Shining Star: Snooki: Although the Jersey Shore star; known for her poof hairstyle and partying doesn’t exactly have the best reputation, this week she’s our Shining star! The reality star is celebrating her 25th birthday today (Friday, November 23rd)! She’s known for her drunken antics and love for house music on the MTV show “Jersey Shore”, but in real life she’s not just a reality star- she’s also an author, and now she’s a MOM! Snooki and her fiancé, Jionni LaValle, welcomed their bundle of joy into the world in August. Baby Lorenzo is now a few months old, and Mama Snooki couldn’t be happier! She’s already appeared on magazine covers showing off what she calls her “little meatball” and in an interview with the Today Show, Snookie says, “The partying days are long gone!” Snooki is criticized as an immature “party girl” but it seems that with the birth of her baby boy, the reality star has taken a new leaf and is proving the world wrong! On the Today Show, she gushed while talking about her baby Lorenzo, and in an episode of the “Jersey Shore” the guidette cried tears of joy. She also frequently shares pictures of her baby on her instagram account. Snooki has matured and taken a complete 360 from her Jersey Shore persona, and for that I say kudos to Snooki and motherhood!
Falling Star: Nicki Minaj: The rapper may be the queen of hip-hop right now; but her altercations on American Idol have gotten a lot of attention in the media in recent months. Nicki Minaj has been feuding with fellow judge and singer Mariah Carey, and it was even caught on camera! In the video, Minaj snapped at Mariah and said, “"Think I'm playin? Think this s--t is a f--king joke? If you say one more disrespectful thing to me—off with your head!" Yikes. A little out of line! Everyone has had their share of confrontations, but Minaj sounded childish by saying “off with your head.” And now Minaj is taking another jab at Carey through her lyrics. On her “Hell Yeah” track, she has a few subtle indirect lines targeted at Carey- but then in one line she totally gives herself away when she actually says Idol: "I'll take it, sign on the dotted line/But I'm quick to the check a bitch if she outta line. Shout out Mike Darnell and Nigel/Why these bums so mad that the queen on Idol, huh?" So what does this mean for the singers? Well, Mariah Carey isn’t afraid to take jabs at people through her lyrics either, because she’s done it before! She wrote the song “Obsessed” to in response to offensive comments and lyrical blows Eminem made towards her. Wouldn’t be surprised if Mariah responds with some witty lyrics of her own! Two wrongs don’t make a right- but either way it seems that Nicki Minaj is dragging this one out!
