Brittany's 'The Voice' Blog: Dia Frampton's 'Red' Arrives!

December 6th, 2011 11:10am EST

Dia Frampton Here's the latest on and around NBC's The Voice: Dia Frampton's Red drops, Los Angeles hosts a reunion of season one artists, and the coaches score Grammy nominations!

The big news today is the arrival of Dia's new album Red. The disc contains the recently-released single "The Broken Ones," as well as "I Will," which features Dia's coach Blake Shelton.

If you download the album via iTunes, there are two bonus tracks. One of those is "Hearts Out To Dry," which Dia named as one of her favorites on the album in our recent interview. If you've already picked up the CD elsewhere, don't worry - iTunes currently has both additional tracks available for individual purchase.

Dia appeared on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno as the musical guest last week to promote the album. She looked fabulous performing "The Broken Ones." If you missed it, you can view the full episode on NBC's website - sorry, but there's no clip of just Dia's performance available there.

The release makes Dia the third Voice finalist to release a post-show album (behind Javier Colon's Come Through For You and Beverly McClellan's Fear Nothing) and the fourth artist overall to do so, if one adds in the wide release of Casey Weston's earlier self-titled EP.

Her Team Blake cohort Xenia will release her EP Sing You Home Christmas week.

If you haven't bought yours yet, you can pick up your copy of Red using this link. Stay tuned for an in-depth album review in next week's column!

Read on for buzz from a special Voice gathering last weekend in Los Angeles, and your weekly calendar of Voice-related happenings!

Saturday night, Los Angeles music venue The Mint played host to a Voice reunion of sorts, as several season one artists turned out to see Beverly McClellan take the stage.

As mentioned in last week's blog, Beverly has been gracing the West Coast recently in support of her album release. In the crowd for her set at The Mint were the likes of Team Christina's Lily Elise, Team Blake's Tyler Robinson, and Team Cee Lo's Kelsey Rey and Vicci Martinez.

The latter was cajoled to join Beverly on stage for a rendition of Dolly Parton's "Jolene," one of the songs she nailed during her time on the show. It was the first time the two had ever performed that song together. Afterward Vicci let an interesting fact slip: that it was Beverly who suggested she perform "Jolene" in the first place! I'm sure I'm not alone in saying, thanks for that, Beverly.

The evening was a sentimental one as Beverly repeatedly expressed her gratitude toward her fellow artists; she revealed that the song "Come To Me" on Fear Nothing was written for her Voice family. She played well past her allotted time and into the morning without ever losing energy - and no one minded the overrun.

After the show, Vicci confirmed to me that her new album is definitely on its way. As always, stay tuned for more information on future releases from all The Voice's artists.

Grammy nominations were revealed this past week, and the four musician coaches of The Voice split nine noms between them.

Adam Levine, Maroon 5 and Christina Aguilera scored a nomination for "Best Pop Group/Duo Performance" for (what else?) their hit single "Moves Like Jagger."

Christina's flick Burlesque scored a mention for "Best Compilation Soundtrack."

Blake Shelton's "Honey Bee" earned him a nod for "Best Country Solo Performance." His second single "God Gave Me You" also earned a Grammy nom for songwriter Dave Barnes in the "Best Country Song" category. Both tracks were off his Red River Blue album, which is up for "Best Country Album."

Cee Lo Green nabbed one for "Best Traditional R&B Performance" for "Fool For You," his collaboration with Melanie Fiona. The track was also nominated for "Best R&B Song."

The Grammys will air February 12 on CBS.

In other award-related news, Blake also picked up two American Country Awards on Monday night, both for his video for "Who Are You When I'm Not Looking." It was named the top music video by a male country artist and music video of the year.

Congratulations to all our coaches for their awards recognition!

This week it was also announced that Cee Lo will partner with producer Kannon "Caviar" Cross (who's worked with the likes of Macy Gray and T.I.) on his upcoming new solo album. In a press release, Cross stated, "I’ve known Cee Lo for a long time. His music is unique and he has so much talent. The way he connects with these beats is like nothing I’ve ever seen before." Stay tuned next week for an interview with Cross about the upcoming record!
