Rumor Patrol: 'SNL' Cast Member Exodus, 'DWTS' Backstage Fight & More!
April 7th, 2012 1:00pm EDT
You'd think there would be a barrage of April Fool's day rumors to deal with this week over at the Rumor Patrol, but in reality it's no more than what we're used to! Let's find out what's real and what's fake from the past 7 days:
SNL Exodus: Could three key Saturday Night Live members be leaving the show to concentrate on movie careers? Us Weekly reports big stars Kristen Wiig, Andy Samberg, and Jason Sudeikis could all be leaving the venerable live comedy show after the current season wraps up.
Verdict: False, for now. A representative for Wiig and Sudeikis told Gossip Cop, "There is no truth to that item." Still, SNL is no stranger to cast turnover and it wouldn't be surprising if one of these stars left. All three leaving, however, is unlikely and would be a huge blow to the program.
Kym Johnson and Jaleel White Duke it Out: A Dancing with the Stars practice got ugly when White stepped on Johnson's foot. After Johnson said she was hurt, White flipped out and yelled at her. Us Magazine reports producers had to step in before White got physical with an intervening Mark Ballas. It doesn't help that White is also battling abuse allegations from the mother of his child.
Verdict: False. According to both White and Johnson, the rumors are completely "exaggerated" and there was no "vicious fight."
Dumb and Dumber: Following The Three Stooges, the Farrelly brothers are going back to one of their classic comedies for a sequel: Dumb and Dumber - even better, Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels are returning!
Verdict: True. "We're getting set to shoot Dumb and Dumber 2 in September," Peter Farrelly told ComingSoon.net. "It's the first sequel we've ever done, and we've got Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels back." The announcement was met with cynicism, as Peter made the announcement on April Fool's Day. However, this checks out as true!
Tom Hanks and Seth Green to Explore Volcano: Richard Branson is tired of space - he wants to go into a volcano. That's why he created the Virgin Volcanic expedition, signing on Tom Hanks (who was in Joe Versus the Volcano) and Seth Green (veteran of volcano lairs thanks to Austin Powers) to join him in a journey to the center of a volcano.
Verdict: April Fool's! Branson actually wrote this one up himself, and we like that he poked fun at his extravagant expeditions.
