'Dancing With The Stars' Cast Revealed For 17th Season -- We Pick The Winner
September 4th, 2013 3:07pm EDT
Would you believe that this is the 17th season of Dancing with the Stars? This season, ABC will be only airing one episode of the show per week instead of the usual two, due ratings slipping through the years. However, producers have pulled together a rather interesting cast of characters this season. Let's break down who we think will win it all:
Bill Engvall/Emma Slater
We won't see much of Bill nor newcomer Emma. This is the prime suspect for first off the show. Verdict: 12th place.
Jack Osbourne/Cheryl Burke
I'm a big fan of Jack, but it's not for his dancing. Cheryl is a solid partner - but I think if it weren't for Bill, Jack would be the first person off the show. Verdict: 11th place.
Keyshawn Johnson/Sharna Burgess
This one is tough. Is Keyshawn going to be one of the athletes with surprising dancing skills, or one of those athletes who are stiffer than boards? He's been out of the league for a while, so we are sadly going for the latter. The show could be down three guys in three weeks. Verdict: 10th place.
Leah Remini/Tony Dovolani
A second, albeit lesser-known Saved by the Bell alum! Remini is riding a surge of publicity following her departure of the Church of Scientology, which certainly led her to being cast. Dovolani is an up-and-down performer on the show, winning it all two seasons ago and then placing 11th last season. Verdict: 9th place.
Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi/Sasha Farber
Snooki has a few issues to get over if she wants to win. Her popularity is debatable and she will have plenty of people happy to see her go. As for history: the first Jersey Shore member to appear on the show was The Situation - and he finished ninth six seasons ago. Her dance partner is a newcomer, having been in the "Dance Troupe" for several seasons, so that's doing her no favors unless Farber is a diamond in the rough. Verdict: 8th place.
Bill Nye/Tyne Stecklein
Bill Nye will have the Internet vote behind him, but can he dance? That's going to be the big question, because he could easily be voted out first - but if he shows a modicum of dancing prowess he could just as easily catapult to the top five. He's been given another one of the new dancers, which could lead to his quick exit. Verdict: 7th place.
Elizabeth Berkley/Val Chmerkovskiy
Comeback? Maybe. The Saved by the Bell star's latest mentions are due to reunion rumors and digs at her movie Showgirl. Val is a good partner who has improved his last two seasons. Unfortunately for Berkley, there is a more probably target for Internet audiences who would have voted for her ironically (we'll get to him later) - but maybe she picked some moves up while playing as a stripper. Verdict: 6th place.
Corbin Bleu/Karina Smirnoff
Blast from the past! We haven't heard much of Corbin since his High School Musical days (apparently he's on the online soap opera One Life to Live), but he probably has some moves - and certainly has a solid partner with Karina. Verdict: 5th place.
Valerie Harper/Tristan MacManus
She will definitely have the sympathy vote, after she was given months to live and is apparently on her way back to health. Still, there is the worry that she could get sick again any week and have to drop out. Tristan is a middling partner who hasn't done better than 5th place and was 13th and 12th the last two seasons, respectively. Verdict: 4th place.
Amber Riley/Derek Hough
Amber is switching networks! She won't get the ABC/Disney bump that Brant Daugherty is going to get, but she got dealt a great hand by getting paired up with 4-time champion Derek Hough. Verdict: 3rd place.
Brant Daugherty/Peta Murgatroyd
The annual ABC tie-in star (Brant is featured on Pretty Little Liars) always has a good shot at going deep into the competition. Last season's ABC star, Zendaya, came in second. Peta's always been solid, and thanks to sex appeal for a dominantly-female audience Brant will be around 'til the end. Verdict: 2nd place.
Christina Milian/Mark Ballas
Christina Milian's latest gig was being the "Social Media Correspondent" for The Voice. So her popularity level can't be that high. However, Mark Ballas is a solid dancer who has two championships under his belt. Milian probably has some experience training to dance along with her songs - so she may catch on with viewers very quickly, even if they aren't 100% sure who she is. Verdict: 1st place.
