Oprah: I'm 'Freaked Out' By Balloons
Oprah Winfrey may be one of the world's most powerful women, but she has an unusual fear: balloons.
In a video to promote the October issue of her magazine O, Oprah reveals that she's not a fan of balloons, and her fear of them came to a head during her 40th birthday.
She shared, "I really don't like balloons, and for my 40th birthday, my entire staff decided to surprise me. And I come downstairs and the entire audience is filled with balloons. Literally, I'm stepping over balloons, having to walk through balloons and I'm so, like, 'Oh! When is one going to pop?
"[There was] no way around it, just had to walk through them. And that became a metaphor for facing all of my fears."
Oprah then explains that she is afraid of balloons popping, saying it sounds like gunfire to her. "It reminds me of gunfire...and it really freaks me out, being around balloons," she said.
