James Roday Talks The Darker Turn 'Psych's' Fourth Season Finale Takes

James Roday Talks The Darker Turn Psychs Fourth Season Finale Ta
"I don't want to pull the rug out from under our fans every week and slap them in the face with stuff, but this was the season finale, and it was the long-awaited return of Mr. Yang. Yeah, we kind of wanted to load in with as much stuff as we could. That's a fun way to end the season, I think," Psych’s James Roday starts when discussing tonight's finale episode, "Mr. Yin." And for Roday, the airing comes with a lot at stake. Not only is he the star of the show but he directed the noir-style episode, an homage to famed (and one of his favorites) director Alfred Hitchcock, as well.

"[Psycho]...

'Cougar Town' Scoop From PaleyFest

March 10th, 2010 9:00am EST
Cougar Town
"Cougar Town" started as a star vehicle to bring Courteney Cox-Arquette back to comedic network television. Creator Bill Lawrence knew from the get go he wanted to work with her and was somewhat hesitant about pitching her the title in case she found it offensive or simply took it the wrong way. Luckily for him-- and for all of us, really-- Cox-Arquette has one of the best senses of humor in show business, and she easily turns that in on herself. Who else would perform a scene where she opens a towel, stares at her naked body in the mirror, cries out in disgust and then begins poking and pi...

'Dexter' Plans For Its Fifth Season At PaleyFest

Dexter Plans For Its Fifth Season At PaleyFest
It should seem absurd that anyone would honor and celebrate a serial killer. But when he is a loving husband, father of three, and law enforcement official, it is hard not to see his good side. And the Paley Center for Media has done that not once but twice within four years now with their annual PaleyFest in Los Angeles and Showtime's hit crime drama Dexter.

The crowd and the panel gave Michael C. Hall a standing ovation when he walked out on stage on Thursday, March 4th after screening the very special Thanksgiving episode of the previous season, "Hungry Man." Though the actor skipped pr...

'Community' At PaleyFest: A Taste Of What Being On Their Set Is Like!

March 4th, 2010 11:43am EST
Community Paley fest
My audio recording from last night's PaleyFest panel honoring the acting and producing talent of NBC's hit sitcom, Community, is pretty much nonsensical. Between the raucous laughter from the audience, creator Dan Harmon's long, rambling stories, and star Chevy Chase's Christopher Walken-like way of answering questions, everyone had a ton of fun but it became incredibly clear that the show is even more remarkable simply for managing to get scenes shot, despite the crazy off-screen behavior!

Prior to screening "Physical Education," tonight's episode which features Joel McHale in butt shorts...

Cast & Crew Talk 'Modern Family' At PaleyFest

March 2nd, 2010 11:15am EST
Modern Family
"The way I see it, 'Modern Family' is the story of these three families that is being told documentary style," co-creator Steven Levitan explained during opening night of PaleyFest 2010 last Friday. "But that is apparently up for debate. The thing is, if I believed these families would allow cameras into their homes, into their children's rooms, for these intimate moments, I wouldn't like them as much!"

Funnyman Ty Burrell, who plays hapless dad Phil Dunphy, agreed, adding that he likes that the show hasn't tried to explain the breaking-the-fourth wall elements of the show. He doesn't cons...

Lisa Kudrow Returns To TV As Herself In 'Who Do You Think You Are?'

March 2nd, 2010 9:27am EST
Lisa Kudrow - Who Do You Think You Are?
Lisa Kudrow returns to television on March 5th in a role unlike any one we have ever seen: herself. Kudrow made a name for herself as kooky singer/masseuse Phoebe Buffay on NBC's hit sitcom Friends and has spent the decade and a half since bringing that role to life playing variations on the character in feature films and guest spots on other television shows. But with the new reality show Who Do You Think You Are? Kudrow (who acts as Executive Producer as well as subject in the first episode) gets to explore who she really is as a Jewish American, not just a character actor.

"I think I ...

Cryptic Words About 'Lost's' Final Episodes Revealed At PaleyFest

March 1st, 2010 11:02am EST
Cryptic Words About Lost
With the remaining episodes of ABC’s Lost quickly ticking down to the end, the thoughts and questions on everyone's mind at their PaleyFest 2010 panel on Saturday evening in Beverly Hills all had to do with just how many of the show's mysteries would be resolved. Greatly for this reason (but also due in part to the fact that the show is currently shooting in Hawaii), the majority of the panel was made up of the show's writers and producers, including creators Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse. Joining them in the "hot seats" were Adam Horowitz, Edward Kitsis, Liz Sarnoff, and director/produce...

Celebrity Couples Who Might Benefit From A 'Marriage Ref'

February 26th, 2010 10:00am EST
Fergie & Josh Duhamel
NBC will be offering a sneak peek of the premiere of The Marriage Ref, a new reality show by Executive Producer Jerry Seinfeld, on February 28 following the closing ceremonies of the Olympics.

When the show was first casting, producers "searched the country for outgoing and opinionated couples in long-term relationships who have have long standing arguments or issues that must be resolved." They were adamant about the fact that no problem would be too small, but one must wonder if certain problems could be too large. After all, there wasn't a real need to scour state to state; they simpl...

Lauren Graham And Ron Howard Spill Secrets About 'Parenthood'

Lauren Graham And Ron Howard Spill Secrets About Parenthood
It was once a feature film and then a television series that was quickly canceled but a decade and a half later inducted into the "Brilliant but Canceled" series. Now NBC is giving it a go once again. Brought to millions of televisions across the country (or so the network hopes), Parenthood features an all-star cast of television veterans who are playing one big, happy, colorful and somewhat dysfunctional family.

Executive Producer Ron Howard, who has been involved in all incarnations of the project, admits that there is a lot of room for comedy in this "new" version of Parenthood. "The...

Kris Allen On His Returns To 'American Idol' Thursday: 'It's Not About Me'

February 24th, 2010 11:30am EST
Kris Allen Returns To American Idol
Thursday evening brings the first live results show back to American Idol for this ninth season, but more than that, it brings the return of Idol Gives Back, a mega-hit in 2008 and that was all but forgotten last season.

The very special episode was thrown together a bit hastily in response to the devastation in Haiti after the earthquakes earlier this year. On the behest of Simon Fuller, season 8 winner Kris Allen went down to Haiti to witness the devastation for himself and will return to the Idol stage on Thursday to perform and premiere a video package of his time helping the UN with...
