Fast & Furious 6 races to the top of the U.S. box office

Fast & Furious 6 Fast & Furious 6 has raced to the top of the U.S. box office after raking in a whopping $98.5 million (£63.5 million) in ticket sales this weekend (24-26May13).

The action film, starring Vin Diesel and Dwayne Johnson, beats Bradley Cooper's much-anticipated comedy The Hangover Part III, which opens in second place with $42.4 million (£27.4 million).

Star Trek Into Darkness is in third with $38 million (£24.5 million), while new animated movie Epic, which features voice work from Beyonce and Pitbull, comes in fourth ($34.2 million/£22.1 million).

Iron Man 3 rounds out the top five ($19.4 million/£12.5 million).
