Geri Halliwell British singer Geri Halliwell has put her move to Australia to good use by taking part in a telethon to raise money for a children's charity in Sydney.

The Spice Girls star, who has moved Down Under to take a judging job on reality TV show Australia's Got Talent, was one of 60 celebrities who manned the phones for the Gold Telethon, which raised $3.7 million (£2.4 million) for the Sydney Children's Hospital.

The singer also spent time with some of the sick children at the hospital and said, "If you're in a position to help, whether it's a dollar in the bucket or a bit of your time, do it because when I think about my life and what I've been given, I feel like I'm so b**ody lucky. When I meet children that have serious illnesses it puts it all into perspective."
