Ricky Martin: 'Joel Madden is facing the hardest time of his life'

Ricky Martin has thrown his support behind his embattled The Voice co-star Joel Madden in the aftermath of his headline-grabbing drugs bust over the weekend (08-09Jun13).
Madden hit the news for all the wrong reasons after a police raid on his Sydney hotel room turned up a bag of cannabis, and drew the wrath of anti-drugs campaigners who called for the rocker to step down as a mentor on the Australian version of the TV talent show.
The Good Charlotte star's co-worker Ricky Martin has now revealed the musician is struggling in the aftermath of the incident, and insists the public should accept his apology.
Speaking on Australian radio station FOX FM, he says, "Listen, all I have to say is that I need to send Joel nothing but light and love at this moment. He already sent a release (statement), apologising. It must be one of the hardest moments of his life to be honest, I don't doubt it, and that's all I'm going to say."
Police officers decided against charging Madden over the drugs bust, and the star subsequently said sorry to his fans: "That's never the reason I want to be on the front page of any news. But I take full responsibility... I just want to apologise to anyone I've let down. It was never my intention ever to disappoint people."
