Steven Soderbergh to teach master class at Deauville film festival

Steven Soderbergh Steven Soderbergh is set to teach a movie master class at this summer's (13) Deauville American Film Festival in France.

The director, who is planning to turn his back on Hollywood to focus on his love of art, will open the annual event with a screening of his Liberace biopic Behind The Candelabra on 30 August (13) and will share his moviemaking secrets with guests at a special lecture the following day (31Aug13).

The festival will also include a tribute to veteran Aliens producer Gale Anne Hurd, while French actress Valerie Donzelli will serve as president of the Cartier Revelation Jury to judge movies in competition.

The Deauville American Film Festival will run until 8 September (13).
