The Americans star Alison Wright sued by former agent

The Americans British actress Alison Wright has been sued for $1.5 million (£1 million) over allegations she dumped her longrunning agent after landing a regular role on U.S. TV drama The Americans.

The 37 year old is accused of cutting ties with her reps at Headline Talent Agency on the very same day she was hired to play FBI secretary Martha Hanson on the acclaimed new show, which debuted earlier this year (13).

In the suit, filed in Manhattan Supreme Court on Tuesday (30Jul13), her former agents claim that a regular role on the series would net her $5 million (£3.3 million) - and they would be in line for 10 per cent, amounting to $500,000. They are also requesting $1 million in damages.

Her new rep, Laurie Smith, has hit back at the suit, insisting she landed Wright the role and she is earning nowhere near the amount reps at Headline suggest she is.

Smith says, "She selected me to represent her because they (former agents) weren't getting her any work. She's a newcomer. She's making $15,000 an episode and (her character) could be killed off by the end of the season."
