Gillian Anderson remembers The X-Files in letter to fans and friends

Gillian Anderson Actress Gillian Anderson has marked the 20th anniversary of TV hit The X-Files with an open letter to fans of the sci-fi series.

The star, who portrayed FBI agent Dana Scully on the show, has poured out her feelings about the programme that made her a household name.

She writes, "I am so grateful to have been a part of this groundbreaking trajectory and delighted that it still stands up against the high quality programming of today."

Anderson also thanked X-Files creator Chris Carter for casting her and she left a cheeky message for co-star David Duchovny, adding, "...thank you, David, for wearing those Speedos" - referring to an episode in which the actor donned a pair of skimpy swimming trunks for a pool scene.
