Kenneth Branagh up for leading London theatre jobs

Kenneth Branagh has been hotly tipped to replace both Kevin Spacey and Sir Nichols Hytner as the artistic director at two leading London theatres.
Reports suggest the newly-knighted movie star/director is close to accepting a major position at The National Theatre in 2015, although sources tell Britain's The Independent newspaper that Rufus Norris is also in the running.
Sir Anthony Hopkins, who is a longtime friend of the Henry V star, tells the publication, "He (Branagh) wrote me an email and told me he'd been offered the directorship. I said do it... I told him he must accept. You see, Ken has got the teeth and the guts to do it."
It has also been reported that Branagh is the front runner to replace Kevin Spacey as The Old Vic's artistic director in 2015.
Meanwhile, Branagh will make his New York stage debut in Macbeth at the Park Avenue Armory in June, 2014.
He is currently directing the live-action adaptation of Cinderella, starring Cate Blanchett and Helena Bonham Carter.
