Blu-ray Review: 'Dark Angel' (aka 'I Come In Peace')
Ready to return to Dolph Lundgren at his peak? Then follow us as head into 90’s alien/action territory with the flick "Dark Angel" (aka "I Come In Peace") out now from Shout! Factory. The peace and lack of gets reviewed below!
Title: "Dark Angel"
Cast: Dolph Lundgren, Brian Benben, Betsy Brantley
Director: Craig R. Baxley
Runtime: 91 minutes
Release Company: Shout! Factory Home Entertainment
The Flick: So super odd that this one is called "Dark Angel" as when I was a kid and saw this at the local theatre it was distinctly called "I Come In Peace." Didn’t matter that the alien saying it was stabbing heads of various humans, all that counted was the cool action – and it still does. Director Craig R. Baxley was once of the greats in terms of practical car chases, explosions and stunts galore (he worked on "The A-Team" for TV!) and this flick carries the fireball seal of approval. Not to mention that he had the foresight to match the hulking Lundgren with the very talkative Brian Benben for a comedy duo that was ever so memorable. Add to that some aliens fighting and CD’s that slice throats and "I Come In Peace" (I'm calling it that - sorry!) is one to watch - good action, good comedy, good flick.
Best Feature: Love the Interviews section, especially hearing from Benben on his famed banter with the massive Lundgren. (But why is nobody talking about the title change?!)
Best Hidden Gem: Call me crazy but even with that iconic 80’s hair, the lovely Betsy Brantley is still smoking hot.
Worth the Moola: This one indeed goes in pieces – that kick ass!
