Actress Marisa Ramirez is returning to the scene of “crimes” in a big way.  After a memorable turn on Lifetime’s one-season cop drama Against the Wall, Ramirez joins Rob Lowe and Elizabeth Mitchell in Lifetime’s true-life TV movie Prosecuting Casey Anthony premiering January 19th. Lowe stars as Jeff Ashton, the Florida attorney who prosecuted Casey Anthony for the murder of her 2-year old daughter. The highly publicized trial ended in Anthony's acquittal. Ramirez stars as Rita Ashton, the prosecutor's wife and confidante.

Ramirez acknowledges that playing Rita Ashton offered a special kind of challenge. She says, “There is always pressure playing a real living person and even pressure developing a character from scratch.  All I can do is put my heart into the performance and hope that the real Rita is pleased with it.”  Although the two women have never met, Ramirez would love the opportunity.  She says, “I was told [Rita] is a warm, down-to-earth, successful TV commercial producer of Cuban heritage. She must be such an amazing support system for her husband and her family.”

As for her on screen husband Lowe, Ramirez says he is “fantastic” and “fun to work with.”  This is the second time the two have shared the screen together.  Ramirez guest-starred on his short-lived series Dr. Vegas in 2004.

Ramirez has also landed the recurring role of Officer Riley Dunn on the third season of ABC’s Body of Proof starring Dana Delaney. Ramirez is coy about her storyline, but does hint that her character “catches the eye” of a detective. As for exactly who, well, she's Pleading the Fifth.

One thing that all evidence does point to: Crime pays for Marisa Ramirez.Body of Proof returns Tuesday, February 5th at 10 PM on ABC. Watch the world premiere of Prosecuting Casey Anthony starring Rob Lowe, Elizabeth Mitchell and Marisa Ramirez on Saturday, January 19th at 8/7 Central on Lifetime.
