TV Star Richard Grieco Moves From the Screen to a Canvas!
Richard Grieco is not a name you soon forget. Most famous for his breakout role in the hit eighties-nineties teen cop drama “21 Jump Street” Grieco has superseded the word actor and represents more of a cultural icon, made obvious in his self-starring role in the cult classic Night at the Roxbury. But while most household names drop off into remission to deal with their inner demons and personal issues, he has been working on something far less destructive and a lot more productive.
Placing his script aside for a paintbrush Grieco has been creating artwork, a new genre he coined “abstract emotionalism”. The topographical pieces are as much about texture as they are about ascetics, and often has deeply personal items hidden within his one-of-a-kind paintings.
"My work is capturing lightning in a bottle, it's a pure unbridled emotion. I am a painter who puts his emotions on canvas and honestly my work is as much part of my life as breathing."
On Thursday August 15th Grieco will be debuting his work exclusively for the Gallerie Sparta located on the famed Sunset Plaza. Debuting in the Hollywood community only a few months ago, Gallerie Sparta has already attracted stars and art enthusiasts including the likes of Jane Seymour and Hillary Duff. The gallery is the first ever to grace the famed Sunset Plaza since it was built in the 1800’s, so this event marks a lot of “milestones” all around.
Stephan Sparta, owner of the gallery, expressed his excitement about Richard being a part of his establishment telling Star Pulse News, "Richard's passion for painting, focused over a twenty year period of personal exploration has developed into his own emotional visual language. We have been following his ascent and are excited to be the exclusive gallery to premier his explosive paintings in Los Angeles."
A portion of the proceeds from art sold during the entire length of the exhibit will be donated to the Wolf Connection Foundation, a rescue sanctuary seeking to strengthen the instinctual bond between humans and animals.
