Katie Holmes Says She's Open To Having More Kids

Katie Holmes is hoping that 2013 is a good year. The actress covers the April 2013 issue of Allure magazine and opens up about her future and shares some keen advice she got from her mother.

The 34-year-old stage and screen star is keeping her options open these days, not counting out a recent National Enquirer story that says she's considering going back to school to pursue a degree in law.

"Well, my brother and father are attorneys, and –- we'll see," she says. "I like the practical thinking of attorneys."

The former Dawson's Creek star, who went through a shocking, whirlwind divorce from actor Tom Cruise last summer is currently single; but she says she's won't rule out finding Mr. Right and expanding her family.

"I don't know," she says. "I'm open to it."

While that may or may not happen this year, she wishes that 2013 is a good year -- for everyone.

"I hope this is a peaceful year for a lot of people in the world," she says. "When you look back on the last year, there were a lot of tragedies—Hurricane Sandy, the Connecticut shooting. I...I just hope it's a good year for everyone."

Asked if that means her also, she pensively replies, "A lot of people have gone through a lot of stuff."

As far as that advice from her mother that she's taken to heart, Katie says that she's learned that "you may be pretty, and you may be talented, but nobody will remember that if you're mean."
