'Game Of Thrones' Star Charles Dance Says He Was Shocked By Violent 'Red Wedding' Scene
Charles Dance, who plays Tywin Lannister on HBO's hit drama Game of Thrones, says he's shocked at the amount of violence in the show, despite being one of the show's most ruthless, unforgiving characters.
During the show's season finale on Sunday, the British actor's character reveals that he was at the center of the "Red Wedding" plot that saw Robb Stark and his mother Catelyn murdered during the show's penultimate episode, and Dance says he was quite stunned at the brutality of the scene and the amount of gore shown.
"I wasn't even in the scene, but I watched it, of course, and was absolutely shocked, actually," he tells the London Evening Standard
"And I know the amount of tweeting that's gone on," he added, referencing the reactions from fans across the various social networking websites.
The actor also told the Standard that he's happy that his character has lasted as long as he has, considering that no one is safe in author George R.R. Martin's "A Song of Ice and Fire" saga, which the show is based upon.
