Kate Winslet Pictures: Kate Winslet Lands 2,520th Star On The Hollywood Walk Of Fame
Kate Winslet became the 2,520th celebrity to land a star on the infamous Hollywood Walk of Fame on Monday.
The 38-year-old actress was joined by "Divergent" co-star Shailene Woodley and director James Cameron and actress Kathy Bates, who both worked with her on "Titanic." Winslet's family, husband Ned Rocknroll and her three children, were absent from the ceremony, which was Kate's first public appearance since giving birth to son Bear.
Kate's ceremony took place a few hours after a magnitude 4.4 earthquake shook the Los Angeles area, and she was thrilled at the turnout. ""I'm completely overwhelmed by the number of people that are here today," she told the crowd. "I honestly had no idea this was going to be quite such a well-attended event, especially after the earthquake this morning, which frightened me quite a lot actually."
The event took place at the corner of Hollywood Blvd. and Vine Street, a landmark known as the place where wannabe stars first get off the bus when arriving in Hollywood.
"I believe that so many great young aspiring actors first stepped off the bus with the hope of embarking on a film career from this very spot we all stand in today," she said. "I feel very honored 20 years into my own career to be standing in such a poignant place and being celebrated in such a spectacular fashion.
"It's really, really wonderful to be here and to be given this award, this accolade, this wonderful moment in my life that I know I will never forget."
