'The Big Bang Theory' Season 6: 5 Spoilers You Need To Know

September 25th, 2012 3:00pm EDT

The Big Bang Theory I love the smell of season premieres in the evening! The 2012-2013 television season is finally upon us, but fret not, there are still more spoilers to spill. I’m honing in on the geektastic “The Big Bang Theory” as my last show to spoil. Last season, Leonard (Johnny Galecki) proposed to Penny mid-coitus while Howard and Bernadette got married mere hours before “Froot Loops” was launched into the space. The show premieres on Sept. 27 at 8 p.m. EST, so here are five spoilers you need to know…

Amy Farrah Fowler’s bitchin’ harp solos are no more. Amy Farrah Fowler is a gem of a girl: she plays a mean harp; she's whip smart, and has a disturbing affection for her electric toothbrush. Unfortunately, audiences won’t be rockin’ out to those wicked solos anytime soon as a car accident left Amy’s portrayer and Emmy nominee, Mayim Bialik with a severely injured right hand, reports. The crew will film around the injury and it won't be written into the script. There is a silver lining though: without being bogged down with harp practice, Amy will have more time to attempt to seduce Sheldon. Go get him, girl!

If Raj hasn’t hit rock bottom yet, he will now. Poor Raj (Kunal Nayyar) has often bemoans about being the only single one in the nerdy bunch on “The Big Bang Theory.” Sadly, his depression will more than likely triple as reports that Howard’s unseen, but woefully unattractive mother is getting a boyfriend while her son's BFF still can’t talk to the fairer sex without pounding cocktails. “Buffy The Vampire Slayer’s” Ken Lerner has been cast as the (un)lucky dentist who woos the still unseen Ms. Wolowitz.

Penny’s new larger-than-life life. The shares that the season 6 will finally delve into and expand Penny’s (Kaley Cuoco) rather small life of failed auditions, take-out with her friends and shifts at The Cheesecake Factory. Producers are mum about wehther she will finally get her big break in show business or if she’ll step back from acting to pursue other opportunities. She could make a bundle selling those adorable Penny Blossoms from season 2.

The lone geek in orbit. According to, Howard will remain in space for a chunk of episodes at the start of this season. However, it doesn’t mean he will be as disconnected from home as he would hope. Thanks to modern technology, his mother’s melodic voice is only a phone call away. Maybe Froot Loops will swallow that deathly fear and enjoy the serenity of space.

Leonard abandons physics for chemistry. This season, Dr. Cooper is getting a hot new assistant played by Margo Harshman ("Bent"), according to Harshman’s character will make beautiful chemistry not with her boss, but with Leonard (Johnny Galecki), much to Penny’s dismay. While Leonard and Penny fans may be confounded by this plot twist, this development just might help Penny realize just how wonderful Leonard is when she finds him connecting with a hot brainiac.

"The Big Bang Theory" debuts on Sept. 27 at 8 p.m. on CBS.
