'Hawaii Five-0' Season 4: 5 Spoilers You Need To Know

September 4th, 2013 2:15pm EDT

CBS Corporation It has felt like eons since May sweeps rolled out their suspenseful best. Luckily, our favorite shows are gearing up for a new season of drama, comedy and overall entertainment. For CBS' "Hawaii Five-0," that means applying the sunscreen, waxing the surfboard, and dusting off your favorite bulletproof vests.
The season 3 finale ended with Kono and her ex-gangster boyfriend on the run from the Yakuza; Danno reuniting with his erstwhile girlfriend played by the adorable Autumn Reeser; and an imprisoned Wo Fat and a visiting Steve McGarrett under siege by the kingpin's enemies. Season 4 may kick off on Sept. 27 in a new Friday timeslot, but the action is still the same. Here are five spoilers you need to know...

The fourth season begins with a bang. Not only will McGarrett (Alex O'Loughlin) have to save the criminal who has terrorized his family for decades from a powerful enemy, but TVFanatic.com reports that the Five-0 headquarters will be attacked by gunman who discover Kono and Adam's location and puts Catherine in serious danger. Methinks grenade-happy McG won't take this too well.

Chi McBride joins the cast. Do you miss your weekly shot of Chi now that the fantastic but short-lived "Golden Boy" was cancelled? You're in luck: Hawaii Five-0 has cast the incredibly talented actor as SWAT Commander Lou Glover, according to TVGuide.com. It wouldn't be a classic cop show, if McGarrett and Co. didn't butt heads with a captain. Both Commanders will apparently disagree how the other operates. Glover's character will most likely recur throughout the season, giving McGarrett one obstacle he can't threaten or beat into submission. This could get EPIC.

'Hawaii' has more stars than ever. "Hawaii Five-0" has reveled in stunt-casting since its beginning, and season 4 will has a lot of recognizable faces on the books: Nick Jonas, Tim Daly ("Private Practice," "Wings"), and Henry Ian Cusick have already been cast for roles. The most intriguing casting to date is that of that Oscar-nominee Melanie Griffith to play Detective Danny Williams' (Scott Caan) mother this season, according to TVLine.com.

"Five-0" will keep its Grace. Last season's finale staged a farewell to Kono that was so convincing that fans are worried Kono's real-life portrayer, Grace Park, wouldn't be returning to the show. TVLine.com promises that Park is indeed returning for season 4, although she will be exploring an arc separate from the Five-0 task force in opening episodes. As long as her uber-hot boyfriend is in tow, I am thrilled.
