October 7th, 2013 3:32pm EDT

Supernatural “Supernatural,” The CW’s show about a pair of monster-hunting brothers, has spent its eight year run defying the odds. It had several brushes with cancellation before nearly doubling its ratings in season 4. The show also churned out some of its best episodes in its eighth season with a finale that ended with all angels exiled from heaven and Sam collapsing from The brothers Winchester return on Oct. 8, so here are five spoilers you need to know…

Welcome Back, Bobby. This summer, Jim Beaver stunned fans announcing on Twitter that Bobby, Sam and Dean’s surrogate father, would return to “Supernatural” under very shocking circumstances. In the premiere, Dean dreamwalks inside a dying Sam’s head, and it appears Bobby will make his appearance in Sammy’s subconscious too. He may even lead him to the Grimmest of Reapers, the horseman Death. Watch the thrilling promo below!

Castiel’s first love. When we last saw Castiel (Misha Collins), he was cast out of Heaven after being rendered mortal. Castiel will spend season 9 getting acclaimated to life as a human, and that includes falling in love. According to, “The O.C’s” Shannon Lucio guest stars in the third episode as a potential love interest for Castiel. Fans who ship Castiel with someone else probably shouldn't panic. If you’ve watched “Supernatural," you might have an idea of how most of the relationships end.

Deep into the rabbithole we go! Last season, “Superantural” introduced a new branch of mythology. Sam and Dean (Jensen Ackles) are descendents of the Men of Letters, a secret group of intellectuals who observed and recorded all things paranormal. The society has since died off, but Sam and Dean still reside in their hidden lair. reports that an episode this season will flashback to 1935 when the first Men of Letters inhabited that infamous bunker.

A kinder, gentler Crowley? In the finale, the high-ranking demon Crowley (Mark Sheppard) was almost cured. reports that the King of Hell will be effected by that process even though it wasn’t completed. Are we going to see a more sensitive, vulnerable demon in season 9? Crowley's portrayer Mark Sheppard won’t go that far, “I mean, as far as the canon is concerned, if you don’t complete the task then it hasn’t happened. I’d be more interested to see…if there is any residual effects,” he said.

Sam will survive, but how? It’s not a spoiler that Sam Winchester (Jared Padalecki) who collapsed at the end of the thrilling finale, will recover. The question at hand is how? reports that big brother Dean plays a large hand in his miraculous recovery. In the sneak peek of the season premiere titled “I Think I’m Gonna Like It Here,” Dean (Jensen Ackles) begs to Castiel for Sam’s life. When he doesn’t answer, Dean sends out a distress signal to all fallen angels. Could he possibly strike up a deal with an angel to save his brother’s life? Find out when “Supernatural” premieres on The CW on Oct. 8 at 9/8c.
