'Once Upon a Time': Season Two Premieres With Magic and Angst

October 2nd, 2012 9:38am EDT
The cast of Once Upon a Time.
The second season of the hit TV show “Once Upon a Time” premiered on Sunday, September 30th, with a new character walking the rainy streets of a busy city – obviously, not the sleepy town of Storybrooke. A post card on his windowsill from Storybrooke read “Broken,” cuing the opening credits and a Dementor-looking creature of Harry Potter fame in the familiar woods behind the show title.

The premiere story begins with two riders traveling through rugged terrain, towards an Arabian-style castle complete with yet another sleeping woman. “If this works, we don’t tell anyone right away,” the da...

'Game of Thrones' Season 2 Premiere Event: The 'Ultimate Fan Experience' In Colorado

March 29th, 2012 10:34am EDT
A 'Game of Throne' fan in costumes.
On March 27th, 2012, Colorado fans of the epic HBO series “Game of Thrones” were treated to an exclusive, limited engagement: The “Ultimate Fan Experience.” This event included a sneak-peek screening of the season 2 premiere, “The North Remembers,” which will air on April 1st, 2012, at 9pm E.T. on HBO.

I was privileged to be in attendance, and I have to say that HBO really knows how to throw a preview party for the Mile High City! This event was the one and only early preview made available to fans, and the invitation list was capped at 100 (plus one guest) for Colorado residents who respo...

Melissa Joan Hart : 'Feed A Child With Just Four Clicks' (Video)

June 17th, 2011 12:30pm EDT
Melissa Joan Hart
Melissa Joan Hart is the type of A-list celebrity who truly cares about doing something positive. We had a chance to talk with her about her affiliation with Beech-Nut’s “A Jar for a Jar” virtual donation drive, and it’s obvious that this famous actress and mother of two is deeply committed to making a difference in the lives of hungry children. “Right now in the U.S., one in four children are waking up hungry,” she explained during our interview, “and that’s just unacceptable.” The video of our interview with Hart is available below.

Beech-Nut, a company well known for its all-natural bab...

'America’s Next Top Model' Cycle 16 Ep. 3 Recap: America’s Worst Makeover

March 10th, 2011 9:20pm EST
Molly's horrible weave.
This week’s episode of “America’s Next Top Model” featured the infamous makeover segment, in which the remaining 11 contestants were subjected to—gasp!—haircuts, dye jobs, and the always dreaded weave. However, one model received a particularly horrible makeover during Episode 3, possibly one of the worst to-date in ANTM history.

As usual, the show opened up with a bit of interaction at the Top Model house, specifically girls complaining about how insufferable Alexandria is. However, when the girls discovered a pull rope in the living room, which released a chart of vague descriptions of m...

‘America’s Next Top Model’ Cycle 16 Ep. 2 Recap: And 13 Becomes… 11?

March 7th, 2011 7:04am EST
Hannah's best photo from ANTM episode 2.
This week, “America’s Next Top Model” continued to break the mold, with the remaining thirteen contestants dropping to eleven, instead of only one model-hopeful going home. With the incredible assortment of prizes on the line, including the spread in Italian Vogue and the cover of Beauty in Vogue, in addition to the Cover Girl contract and IMG representation, ANTM continued to raise the bar even higher than it did during the intensely challenging Cycle 15.

“America’s Next Top Model” Cycle 16 Episode 2 opened with the girls chilling at the Top Model House, eating a surprising meal of pizza ...

'Grey’s Anatomy' Season 7 Ep. 16 Recap: New Homes & Romances, More Baby Talk

February 25th, 2011 10:04pm EST
The cast of 'Grey's Anatomy.'
This week’s episode of “Grey’s Anatomy” Season 7 continued with the major themes of the season: Baby talk, budding romances, and life-altering decisions. While Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) and Derek (Patrick Dempsey) continued to try to conceive, Cristina (Sandra Oh) and Owen (Kevin McKidd) stumbled into the all-important, probably-should-have-had-before-we-got-married debate about future children.

Cristina is opposed to the idea, and Owen has been waiting for her to change her mind—or at least consider his desire for children. It devolved into a rather ugly fight quickly, with Cristina remai...

'America's Next Top Model' Cycle 16 Ep. 1 Recap: Changes Galore!

February 24th, 2011 11:21pm EST
The contestants of ANTM Cycle 16!
The “America’s Next Top Model” Cycle 16 premiere came with quite a few changes to the traditional ANTM line-up. Tyra started the show with a parody of the different types of girls who try-out for “America’s Next Top Model,” before announcing the first major change for Cycle 16: The constants would begin this cycle thinking they had been rejected during casting week.

The final 14 received envelopes without photographs, which Tyra announced would mean they weren’t headed to panel and instead must leave immediately to go home. This begs the question: What about the other ANTM contestants who ...

'Grey's Anatomy' Season 7 Ep. 15 Recap: Meredith Runs The E.R.

February 19th, 2011 10:00am EST
Ellen Pompeo on 'Grey's Anatomy.'
Episode 15 of “Grey’s Anatomy” Season 7 featured Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) at the forefront of the plot lines, after she volunteers to run the E.R. for a night. Viewers watched a single, solitary hour—the ‘Golden Hour’ as the episode title suggests—tick away over the course of this week’s show, giving a potent glimpse into the chaotic lives of the Seattle Grace surgeons. “When you think about it, an hour really isn’t very long,” Meredith said during the voice-over intro. “In medicine, though, an hour is often everything. We call it the golden hour—that magical hour of time that can determine ...

'Grey's Anatomy' Season 7 Ep. 12 Recap: 'I'm Pregnant'

February 4th, 2011 9:25am EST
Callie and Arizona during happier times.
Episode 12 of “Grey’s Anatomy” Season 7 is one episode that has all the fans talking. The themes of baby-making and inappropriate relationships continued, but with a twist—and a life changing declaration of “I’m pregnant” coming from a somewhat unexpected surgeon at Seattle Grace.

“Grey’s Anatomy” episode 12 started with Derek (Patrick Dempsey) and Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) seated together in the bedroom looking at a pregnancy test. It read “not pregnant,” and Derek reassured Meredith that “next time” the results would be different. In typical Meredith fashion, she expressed her doubt that t...

Syfy’s 'Being Human' Premiere Review: A Shadow Of The BBC Version

January 19th, 2011 9:33am EST
Being Human
“Being Human” premiered on the Syfy channel on January 17th, introducing American viewers to the “template” developed by master storyteller Toby Whithouse—the creator behind the hit BBC version of the series. But can the adaptation by Syfy hold a candle to the incredible depth of character, complicated storylines and phenomenal acting seen in each episode of the original “Being Human?”

The premiere of the American version ran very close to the first scenes fans saw of Mitchell (Aidan Turner), Annie (Lenora Crichlow) and George (Russell Tovey) in the BBC TV show, giving it a nostalgic appea...
