17 Unlikely Celebrity Buddies

Celebrities will always be available to promote off their latest products, films, television shows and endorsements. Yet, they tend to keep their celebrity friendships on the down low. Some of these star buddies are surprising, some are well-known. With all the behind-the-scenes backstabbing that can go along with being in the business, it is a good thing these duos have each other to count on for some real camaraderie.
1. Jonah Hill and Leonardo DiCaprio
Leo and Jonah found friendship on the set of "Wolf of Wall Street" and have continued their relationship ever since. Said Jonah to E!, "He's the greatest. I was really happy with how our characters' relationship was, you know the business partners and best friends, and I think if I didn't love and respect Leo and have that love for him, that wouldn't have come through as much as it did." When Jonah hosted "Saturday Night Live" the two parodied Leo's famous scene from "Titanic," much to the audience's delight.
2. Gwenyth Paltrow and Beyonce.
While it may seem like an unlikely pairing, the two gals have been close friends for years and frequently double date with their husbands, Jay-Z and Chris Martin. Gwyneth has said of Beyonce, "She is the most talented human being on the planet." Bey returned the favor by saying of Gwyneth, "She is incredible, she's a great friend on every level. I think for us, protecting our daughters is so important and keeping things on our own terms, so I will still be protective and make sure [Blue Ivy] has a childhood and a great time."
3. Taylor Swift and Lorde
Lorde and Taylor weren't always besties. Lorde once called her "too flawless" and "unattainable." Taylor regularly tweets photos of the two of them and has cleverly written that the two are, "On each other's team." Lorde tweeted that Taylor is "one of the most masterful performers" that she has ever seen. She also attended Swift's 24th birthday party in December.
4. Leah Remini and Jennifer Lopez
When Remini performed on "Dancing with the Stars" in 2013, Jennifer was front and center, cheering her best friend on. Revealed Remini to People Magazine, ""Jennifer made special rings for all the women in her life that say, 'I Love Me,' " she shares. "I've really come to realize you have to love yourself before you can expect someone else to. You have to learn to believe you deserve love. And I'm getting there. I'm starting to believe it."
5. Tom Cruise and Will Smith
Will Smith and wife Jada were besties with Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes before Holmes left Cruise back in 2012. The Smiths have been mum on whom they still call a friend, but back in 2007 you could just feel the love Will had for Tom during an interview with "60 Minutes." Will stated, "When I sit and I talk with Tom Cruise, he is one of the greatest spirits that I’ve ever met, someone who is committed to making the world better. You have people attacking him and wanna fight that don’t know nothing. How you gonna not know nothing about Scientology and attack somebody? It’s dangerous and it’s ignorant."
6. Eva Longoria and Mario Lopez
While they have never officially dated, Eva Longoria and Mario Lopez have had each other's backs for years. Mario wanted to date Eva, but she valued their friendship too much to ruin it. When Mario performed on "Dancing with the Stars" Eva sat in the audience with Mario’s mom wearing a “Vote for Mario” t-shirt. When Eva married now ex-husband Tony Parker, Mario was in her wedding party. She was also there when he first brought daughter Mia home from the hospital.
7. Ryan Reynolds and Sandra Bullock
Ryan Reynolds and Sandra Bullock have been friends for over a decade and have been there for each other through marriages, divorces and the Sandra's adoption of son Louis. Revealed Ryan in an interview, “I would love to do another movie with Sandra (the two starred in "The Proposal.") We’ve talked about it. We had such great chemistry that was based on over 10 years of friendship. We had known each other for a long time when we went into that. If it’s the right project, we’ll do it because it’s like working with family.”
8. Katy Perry and Allison Williams
"Girls" star Allison Williams and Katy Perry are best buds who regularly make the rounds of celeb dinners and parties together. They debuted their friendship on the red carpet of this year's Grammy Awards. Explained Williams prior to the event, "I am going to the Grammys and Katy Perry is my date. She's the hottest date. She's a friend of mine and she's nominated as she should be. I can't wait to go. Obviously she's awesome. She's the best." Allison has also been there through Katy's hiatus from her relationship with musician John Mayer, as well as the good times, like Allison's recent engagement to longtime boyfriend Ricky Van Veen.
9. Prince William and David Beckham
Yes, David Beckham and his wife Victoria were at the wedding of Prince William and Princess Kate. At the time, no one knew the extent of their friendship, but in an interview with Esquire magazine, Beckham said that the Prince is one of his good friends. Said David, "Yeah, I think I would call William my friend. It's a very normal relationship. With Harry as well. They're very easy to get along with."
10. 50 Cent and Bette Midler
This odd couple became friendly while working on Bette Midler's New York Restoration Project in 2009. 50 Cent and the singer/actress really hit it off. Midler could not stop gushing about the rapper/actor, telling the New York Daily News, "He is such a gorgeous star , holy cow! He's like the Godfather of Jamaica, Queens. He's really made my life worth living, 50 has been with me through thick and thin."
11. Gwen Stefani and Angelina Jolie
Gwen Stefani and Angelina Jolie have more than beauty in common, their kids are best buds! Angelina's six kids, Maddox, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh, Vivienne and Knox love to play with Stefani's sons, Kingston and Zuma (new baby Apollo will catch up with play dates soon enough.) Angelina's better half, Brad Pitt, has been longtime friends with Gwen and hubby Gavin Rossdale for several years as well.
12. Brooke Burke-Charvet and Jennifer Garner
Former "Dancing with the Stars" host Brooke Burke-Charvet and actress Jennifer Garner have kids that go to the same school, so these beautiful ladies take turns carpooling their brood. Brooke loves Jennifer and the admiration is mutual. Said Burke-Charvet to Us Weekly, "Jennifer is a normal mom. She and I carpool together, so I trust her! Moms I know, I trust. And that's about it!"
13. Elton John and Neil Patrick Harris
This fabulous pairing came about through the duo's (and their respective partners) love of children. Harris revealed that David Furnish, Elton John's husband, was the first person he told about his and husband David Burtka's plans to have children via surrogacy. Harris and Burtka have twins, Gideon and Harper. John and Furnish are parents to Zachary and Elijah.
14. Miley Cyrus and Snoop Lion
This mash-up came via Snoop's need for a female vocalist for his song "Ashtray and Heartbreaks." Said Snoop, ""It was beautiful. I was working on my reggae album and I needed a special vocalist to come through and assist me on a song and she was willing, ready and able and came and did her part. We shot a video and it's history from there." Said Cyrus, "We're more alike than you would think. We're very similar. He actually said that."
15. Reese Witherspoon and Robert Pattinson
Who knew Reese Witherspoon and Robert Pattinson were buddies? The two starred in "Water for Elephants" and remained tight after filming. When Pattinson endured a very public break-up with Kristen Stewart, Witherspoon offered her country home as a safe haven for Pattinson to regroup.
16. Kate Hudson and Lea Michelle
Kate Hudson's role as Lea Michelle's antagonist on "Glee" was only on-screen, thankfully, the two became quite chummy off-camera. It was Hudson to the rescue when Lea, grieving the death of boyfriend Cory Monteith, needed a place to soothe her soul. Hudson opened her home to her co-star and friend and gave her a shoulder to cry on during this trying time. Said Michelle to Elle Magazine, "I called her and said, 'I don't know where I'm going to go because my house is swarmed [with reporters].' She was like, 'Oh, you're going to stay at my house.' Like it was nothing. "She let my family stay there, and any of my friends. She made sure that in the refrigerator were my favorite juices. I'll never really be able to thank her, truly, for what she did for me."
17. Jessica Alba and Soleil Moon Frye
The two are both heads of their own companies for babies; Alba runs The Honest Company, Frye runs The Little Seed. They are buddies whose kids hang out together and both are eco-conscious women who love unique names for their kids. Alba's kids are named Honor and Haven; Soleil's kids are named Poet, Jagger and Lyric
