Celebrities Who Would Make Great Wrestlers, In Honor Of WrestleMania 28
March 31st, 2012 11:00am EDT
WrestleMania is just a day away and millions of WWE fans will tune into Pay-Per-View to watch the biggest matches of the year and appearances by celebrities like Maria Menounos, who will be competing in the women's match. Celebs competing in wrestling events is nothing new. Donald Trump, Hugh Jackman, and Snooki have all stepped into the squared circle in recent years against top WWE superstars, but their performances have been average to subpar. Here's a list of celebrities who would probably fare better in the ring and make great wrestlers:
Metta World Peace
Catchphrase: "Metta World Peace in the Middle East!"
Finishing Move: The Peace Offering (DDT)
Ron Artest aka Metta World Peace is no stranger to brawls and getting in people's faces. He was involved in the NBA's most infamous brawl in 2004 as a member of the Indiana Pacers against the Detroit Pistons. His New York attitude and ferocious defense would make him a top contender for the World Heavyweight tiltle in the WWE.
Catchphrase: "Too much awesome on my feet."
Finishing Move: Diamond Cutter (Three-quarter facelock bulldog)
Aside from the fact that he looks like WWE Champion CM Punk, Brian Wilson is one of baseball's premier closers. He's also become one of baseball's unique personalities with his mohawk hairstyle, thick beard, and colorful outfits off the field. On top of that, he makes witty statements and sayings that would have 'The Rock' impressed.
Catchphrase: "Just Keep believing!"
Finishing Move: The Hail Mary (Splash off the top rope)
Recently traded to the New York Jets, Tim Tebow is one of the NFL's most popular players. A devout Christian who has proven he can win football games, Tebow would be a fan favorite and inspiration to little kids like Hulk Hogan was in the 80's. With the fans behind him, he would go on long winning streaks while tebowing after every match.
Catchphrase: "I told them."
Finishing Move: The Wrecking Crews (Powerbomb)
Former NFL player turned actor, Terry Crews is best known for his roles in films like, "Friday After Next," "The Expendables," and the TV sitcom, "Everybody Hates Chris." Crews' muscular physique and pro football experience would make him an imposing threat in the WWE. He would give Mark Henry a run for his money.
Samuel L. Jackson
Catchphrase: "Hey, sewer rat may taste like pumpkin pie, but I'd never know 'cause I wouldn't eat the filthy mother-------."
Finishing Move: Somersault of Sam (Somersault off the top rope)
One of Hollywood's baddest mofos and great actors, Samuel L. Jackson would be an exciting wrestler in the WWE because of his intimidating on-screen presence and profanity-filled verbal tirades in his movies. He would be great at cutting promos and challenging other wrestlers to a steel cage match while calling them a mother----.
Catchphrase: "We got a situation right here."
Finishing Move: GTL (Piledriver)
Mike 'The Situation' Sorrentino is one of the most obnoxious, arrogant, and cocky reality show celebrities. Always showing off his abs and causing trouble in the "Jersey Shore" house, the Situation would be the perfect heel in the WWE. He would be booed, just like in real life, everytime he steps into the ring.
Catchphrase: "Haters keep on hating, 'cause somebody's gotta do it."
Finishing Move: Brown-noser (Double Underhook Facebuster)
R&B sensation Chris Brown was criticized heavily when he physically assaulted his then girlfriend, Rihanna in 2008. If he were in the WWE, he would be the one assaulted and tossed around like a rag doll by guys twice his size. He would be one of the top heels. All that singing and dancing wouldn't be enough to win over wrestling fans.
Catchphrase: "You wanna Minaj?"
Finishing Move: Minaj à trois (Sleeper hold)
Nicki Minaj would provide the divas division in the WWE with a major lift. Known for her different color hair wigs and flashy outifits, she would entertain audiences with her unique style just like Ric Flair used to do.
Catchphrase: "Winning! Duh!"
Finishing Move: Two and A Half Man (Fireman's carry takeover slam)
Who can forget Charlie Sheen's antics and verbal attacks towards "Two and A Half Men" co-creator Chuck Lorre and CBS a year ago. Sheen came up with catchphrases and insults like "Warlocks," 'Tiger Blood," and "Trolls." This proves that he would be great at promos and attacking other wrestlers like the mad man he is.
Catchphrase: "I'm ready to go out and get crazy."
Finishing Move: The Tatum Reel (Spinning Powerbomb)
WWE could use Channing Tatum because he looks like he could be John Cena's twin brother. He has the stature and physique to compete as a wrestler. But due to his role in the mediocre "G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra." fans would boo him.
