American fashion designer Nanette Lepore has been selected as the participant for the 2012 Design Series for Vogue Eyewear. The program was created in 2009 by Luxottica in partnership with the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) to support American designers and provide them with the opportunity to work within the eyewear category and create a limited edition frame for Vogue Eyewear. As part of the annual initiative, all participants were required to not have any previous eyewear experience. Past CFDA collaborators include Rebecca Minkoff, Monica Botkier, Yeohlee Teng, Devi Kroell, Kara Ross, and Matt Murphy.
When conceiving her sunglass, Lepore chose Emma Roberts as her muse, drawing inspiration from the actresses natural look and feminine style to create the "Emma" frame. The "Emma" pays tribute to the fashion icons of the past with its classic cat-eye shape and muted cream coloring. Updated with gold appliqué detailing and soft gradient lenses for a modern twist, the frames capture the playful and youthful spirit of the stylish starlet. The "Emma" will be available exclusively at select Sunglass Hut stores and Sunglasshut.com. Vogue Eyewear, a celebrity favorite, has been spotted on the faces of Hollywood's elite including Katy Perry, Katie Holmes and Jennifer Lopez.
"While designing my new sunglasses, I wanted every woman who puts them on to feel like she was going off on a fantasy. Emma Roberts embodies that spirit of idealism and sophistication. She was the perfect muse," said Nanette Lepore.
