Four Female Celebrities You'd Never Expect to Listen to Hip-Hop

Everyone knows that, sometimes, hip-hop tries to blow your ears apart with loud beats and obscene lyrics. Despite this, some of the world's most respected women love hip-hop. Who would have ever guessed?
Remember when Natalie Portman rapped on Saturday Night Live? That might have been more fact than fiction.
According to an interview with Portman, she really loves dirty rap music. The more obscene, the better. She even loves the Yin Yang Twins, which really tells you something about her.
Portman usually comes across as a cutesy, intellectual snob. Come on, she went to Harvard long after she had become a successful actress. It's not like she chose an Ivy League school to better her career. She just wanted to challenge herself and learn.
Even though Portman can seem a bit dorky at times, maybe it's time to reevaluate that image. After re-watching her rap, she seems like a tiny terror ready to pop a cap.
Natalie Portman is a bit surprising, but what about Gwenyth Paltrow? In 1989, Movieline voted her as Hollywood's most stuck-up actress. She also follows a macrobiotic diet (whatever that means), does yoga, and married that high-pitched whiner from Coldplay.
In other words, it seems more likely that she listens to Sting than Wu-Tang.
Well, we're all wrong. It turns out that she hangs with Jay-Z and Beyonce. She even rapped the NWA song "Straight Outta Compton" when she appeared on "The Graham Norton Show."
As the daughter of Billy Ray Cyrus and the actor who played Hannah Montana, you would expect Miley Cyrus to like some combination of country and pop music. She probably does, but she has diverse tastes that venture into hip-hop and rap as well as Nashville's overly polished country hits.
The first sign that Cyrus liked hip-hop was a weird Twerk video of her dancing in a costume. Apparently that wasn't a one-off thing for her. She's been known to hang out with the Creator, French Montana, and Pharrell and Tyler.
To summarize: you thought Miley Cyrus was a goody-goody, but she's actually way cooler than you.
Anna Kendrick, who has starred End of Watch and The Company You Keep, doesn't feel bound to any particular type of movie. Perhaps no one should feel surprised to learn that she also has a diverse taste in music.
During an interview with Esquire, Kendrick talked about listening to Cyprus Hill with her brother when they were younger. She also cited "Get it Together" as one of her favorite songs.
Perhaps she's just that much cooler than she seems on-screen. Perhaps she goes home at the end of a long day, logs on to World Star Hip Hop, and blasts her Cyprus Hill with the bass turned all the way up.
Do you know of other female celebrities who love hip-hop and rap? It's always fun to learn that celebrities aren't as one-dimensional as they seem in the tabloids.
