Filmmaker Roman Polanski's teenage sex victim Samantha Geimer has released a book in which the cover features an image the director allegedy took of her over 30 years ago.

The portrait on "The Girl: A Life in the Shadow of Roman Polanski" shows Geimer at age 13, taken less than three weeks before her sexual encounter with the filmmaker at a party in Hollywood in 1977. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Polanski took the picture during a photoshoot with Geimer at her Woodland Hills, California home.

Polanski was arrested and was later indicted on six charges: furnishing a controlled substance to minor, lewd or lascivious acts upon a child under 14 years of age, unlawful sexual intercourse, rape by use of drugs, perversion, and sodomy.

The book's image was included in a batch of material her lawyer demanded the filmmaker release during a civil trial 10 years after the director escaped to Europe in 1978 to avoid sentencing.

In 2009, Swizz police detained the director at Zurich Airport in relation to his outstanding U.S. arrest warrant. Authorities threatened to extradite the director and placed him under house arrest. In July, 2010, the Swiss court rejected the U.S. request and released Polanski from custody.

Throughout his arrest and detention drama, Geimer insisted she had forgiven the filmmaker for what he did to her.
