'Bachelor' Star Gia Allemand Dies Following 'Serious Emergency Medical Event'
"Bachelor" star Gia Allemand, who appeared in season 14 of the reality show, was hospitalized in New Orleans Monday night and has died, according to TMZ.com. The cause of her hospitalization has not been disclosed.
The star, 29, experienced a "serious emergency medical event" that resulted in her hospitalization. The former model was listed in critical condition and was reportedly on life support after she was admitted.
Allemand's mother and boyfriend, NBA forward Ryan Anderson of the New Orleans Pelicans, were by her side in the hospital. The family is asking for privacy, according to her publicist.
After hearing the news of her hospitalization, "Bachelor" castmate Ali Fedotwosky wrote on Twitter: "Please keep @GiaAllemand in your thoughts today. She's in critical condition. That's all I know Love you Gia."
Allemand was the third runner-up in Jake Pavelka's search for love. Pavelka nearly married fellow contestant Vienna Girardi before they broke off their engagement in 2010.
Pavelka also offered some prayers for his former co-star before she died: "Please pray for @GiaAllemand... A dear friend and one of the sweetest women I know...#powerofprayer."
