Matt Damon Thinks Ben Affleck Will Be A 'Terrific' Batman, Laughs Off Robin Rumor
After it was announced that Ben Affleck was cast as the new Batman, the internet exploded with fanboys and girls who were stunned (and many disgusted) by the news. Many people pointed to his disastrous role in "Daredevil." Other say it was Warner Bros.' way of keeping a talent on board. But whatever the reason, people were not happy.
But actor Matt Damon is very supportive of his pal and former co-star.
He told the Times of India: "It will be terrific. I know there are a lot of people grousing on the Internet. I just think it's kind of funny. You know he's not playing King Lear – it's Batman! Certainly within his skill set."
He added, "If anybody saw Argo or The Town and all the work he's been doing lately, it's way more nuanced and interesting than Batman."
The two friends won a "Best Screenplay" Academy Award for "Good Will Hunting" in 1997 and have been connected ever since. So it wasn't far fetched for people to speculate that Damon would be cast as Batman's sidekick, Robin.
"I'm a little older than Ben," Damon, 42, explained. "I never saw Robin as older than Batman."
"But it's safe to say I won't be Robin," he insisted.
