On Monday, morning shock jock Howard Stern's longtime radio sidekick, Robin Quivers, stunned fans after revealing she's been battling cancer.
The longtime regular on "The Howard Stern Show" recently took some time off from work and explained that her leave of absence in May 2012 was due to health problems.
The 61-year-old explained she had a tumor on her bladder and had been receiving treatment including radiation therapy and chemotherapy.
"I had a major surgery, a major abdominal surgery, and a mass was removed from my pelvic area and I do have some more recovery to do. But everything seems to be fine," she explained during the broadcast.
Stern feared the worst when he first heard the news about his sidekick. He told listners, "I gotta be honest. I thought she was a goner."
One year later, Quivers is disease-free.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Stern said he would quit his Sirius XM broadcast without Quivers by his side. Last year he commented, "Doing a show without Robin is like cutting off my left arm. Or my right arm. Or maybe both."
