Melissa McCarthy Loses Her Head While Filming 'Tammy'
Well, just her hair really - and by 'hair' we mean a wig. But not just any wig. The actress reported that the wig was $9,000 - not exactly dollar store quality.
McCarthy revealed in a Chelsea Lately interview that during a practice run for a jetski scene while filming 'Tammy' she took a bad spill on the water, and the wig, which had been pinned to her real hair, went missing in the course of the wipeout.
“I don’t remember ever leaving it. All of a sudden, I literally was like, ‘I’m in water.’ I didn’t know if I was up or down and I thought, ‘Holy god, I’ve got that wig on.'"
McCarthy, who had admittedly never piloted a jetski before, explains that she took a curve a little too hard and was thrown from her watercraft, presumably by a wake that broadsided the vehicle. Chelsea Handler laments with her, noting that she's had several accidents on jetskis, though the have all come at the expense of her passengers, rather than herself.
'Tammy' is the story of a woman who hits the road with her profane, hard-drinking grandmother, after losing her job and learning that her husband has been unfaithful. It features Melissa McCarthy and Susan Sarandon, respectively. While both actresses have been praised for previous movies, Tammy has been almost universally panned by critics as a receiving a 4.6/10 on IMDB and 27% from Rotten Tomatoes.
