Review: A Holly, Jolly 'Arthur Christmas'

Arthur Christmas is the type of flick that leans towards answering the ever-so-famous questions kids all over the world ask. How does Santa roam the globe in one night and deliver gifts? Does he really climb down a chimney? Does he really read letters? The film provides kids a view of the mission-like, high-tech operation being run by the Claus family and how magical Santa's team makes it happen.
The Claus family includes Santa (Jim Broadbent), Mrs. Claus (Imelda Staunton), their children Arthur (James McAvoy) and Steve (Hugh Laurie), and GrandSanta (Bill Nighy).
"Arthur Christmas" is a beautifully produced and edited film. We see the Clause family as we never have before; the characters and their personalities are unique, intriguing and fresh. The story line deals with Santa's mischievous son Arthur and how he sets out to complete an urgent mission before Christmas morning.
It's full of snarky dialog, interesting plot points and has a subtle outlook between modern tech vs. old school sled action. It could have been a bit more humorous and less rushed at the beginning (the opening monologue and into the first act), but it's appealing due to its unique display surrounding the son of Santa, rather than Santa himself.
"Arthur Christmas" is defiantly a Christmas film the whole family can enjoy.
