One Republic

Rockers One Republic have just released their new single “Feel Again”.  The single is not just the typical new rock song.  Along with the guitars and drums are the sounds of heartbeats – real heartbeats.  The heartbeats are those of children in Malawi recorded in the fields – there’s an app for that; and were then incorporated into the song augmenting the percussion.

“Feel Again” is also a part of the new “Save the Children” campaign – Every Beat Matters.  A cause the band members truly believe in.  One Republic guitarist Zach Filkins said that the children are always the innocent ones who have no choice in events.  Filkins said that “Feel Again” works well with the charity.

“Save the Children” is an independent organization dedicated to keeping children alive by protecting them and helping to prevent illness and disease – no matter where it occurs.  Whether it be educational, medical, or just getting a good healthy meal; “Save the Children” is there to help.

“Feel Again” is the first single of a new album – “Native” – that is currently in the works.  It is the third studio album for the rockers.  In a recent interview Filkins said that while there is no set release date just yet, the album will be released sometime in the winter months.  Speaking on the album Filkins said that the band is very excited about the new album – something magical is happening.

The band will be playing at the Grand Opening for The D Casino and Hotel in Las Vegas on October 20.  Filkins said a full on tour to support the new album is in the works but no set dates have been confirmed.  Filkins said that he is excited about the upcoming tour because the band is committed to the music and loves performing.  The guys in the band love presenting their new music to the fans.

After touring for nearly 10 years band members have learned how best to “travel light” when flying all around the world.  Items once thought to be “essential” can be left at home and rented or bought once at the concert city.  Filkins said that renting an unfamiliar guitar makes you concentrate more on the music.

And with all five band members able to read music, playing that music will never get boring or stagnant since they can “change things up” a bit from show to show always keeping it fresh and interesting; not just for themselves but for the fans as well.  One such song that never gets old is the band’s first smash hit single “Apologize” – a song that broke records for radio airplay and has topped the four million mark for legal downloads.
