'Dexter' Finds Some Chemistry

11/12/2012 1:10pm EST
Not missing a single beat, the latest episode of "Dexter" opens with Dexter and Hannah catching their breath after knocking boots on the would-be concrete altar he'd setup to kill her. I like the linear consistency of continuation episodes.

I have mentioned earlier I wasn't sure where this storyline was headed, but somehow knew Hannah was bad news. Well, it now appears the two of them together, Hannah and Dexter, might be a formidable crime duo.

Debra, simultaneously, is on a date with true-crime author Sal Price (Santiago Cabrera). Their conversation, of course, is about Hannah, Wayne ...

'Dexter': Do The Wrong Thing

11/6/2012 9:18am EST
Dexter Morgan talks to himself a lot in this episode, and has a lot of visions of his deceased dad, and if you've been a fan to these past six-plus seasons then you know this is saying something.

He's back to stalking Hannah, which is perfectly understandable. She's pretty, alluring, and a murderer, and that's a very attractive package for Dexter. Emotionally, he's torn, like watching your worst enemy drive off a cliff in your new BWM. Still, I like his integrity. First and foremost he's putting the pieces together to prove she's a psychotic killer so he can take her out with a "clear" con...

'Dexter': Season 7 Episode 5 - 'Swim Deep'

10/29/2012 2:37pm EDT
Kind of a slow-moving episode with a lot of story development; if this is your kind of thing, then the fifth episode of the final season of "Dexter" is your kind of episode.

The episode opens with Dexter and his dad on Dexter's boat. Harry (James Remar) is giving his son some fatherly advice, particular to his confessing to Debra. I really like the scenes between Harry and Dexter and wish they were more frequent. There's legit chemistry between these two actors whenever they're together, and the whole father-son relationship is believable. In fact, it's the most believable of all the relat...

'Dexter' Ratchets Up The Tension

10/22/2012 2:20pm EDT
The fourth episode of the final season of Showtime's "Dexter" turned up the flame under the pot that has been on the verge of boiling over since the end of last season.

The episode starts with the aftermath of last week's story involving serial rapist and murder Ray Speltzer (Matt Gerald). Human nature is a funny thing. Dexter is talking to himself about the fact that if he'd taken out Speltzer when he wanted to it would have prevented yet another senseless murder. He mentions that Debra accepts this as fact, and she does.

I'm glad they addressed this issue in a real-world way. Whether or...

'Dexter': Buck The System

10/15/2012 3:25pm EDT
The third episode of the seventh and final season of Showtime's "Dexter" served to advance several existing stories while not giving us too much in the way of new developments. A few, which I'll note, but not many, which means an episode that wasn't as fast-paced and gripping as the past two from this season, but satisfying all the same.

The tone is set right out of the gate as we see Dexter standing in a long line at the post office. The scene is grim, it's clear the line is moving at a glacial pace, and to make matters worse one of the two employees behind the counter just put out the ...

'Dexter': Sunshine And Frosty Swirl

10/8/2012 2:31pm EDT
After last week's blockbuster confession, I went into episode two expecting the awesomeness to continue steamrolling down the track; I was not disappointed.

Just to recap the events of last week, the end of the episode found Dexter (Michael C. Hall) confessing to Debra (Jennifer Carpenter) that he is a serial killer. Even though we saw it coming, it was still titillating when it finally did happen because there was always a chance it wouldn't.

Episode two opens with Debra bursting out of Dexter's apartment, understandably pissed off, confused and physically ill over his tragic news. Harry...

'Dexter' Opens Season 7 On A Very Strong Note

10/1/2012 1:34pm EDT
Dexter Gets Caught
Season six ended with Debra (Jennifer Carpenter) walking into the church just as Dexter (Michael C. Hall) kills Travis Marshall (Colin Hanks) with a sword to the heart. Season seven gets around to this cliffhanger, but not before we see Dexter speeding to the Miami International Airport and drawing some inaccurate conclusions.

On the way to the airport, Dexter has to stop for gas and for some reason all his credit cards are declined at the pump. He gets into a bag in the back of his truck and pulls out a wad of cash, but not before we see several passports and a lot of cash in several diff...

The Worst And The Best Of Summer TV 2012

9/6/2012 6:00pm EDT
Honey Boo Boo
Summer. Some might think of it as a time to take a few days off, soak up the sun and eat popsicles. I think of it as the time for the most delicious and smutty television. Let’s face it: networks don’t exactly roll out the red carpet for your summer viewing pleasure. Instead, it’s the B-list shows that somehow made it through production but weren’t good enough to be shown through the regular season. And for that, I heartily thank the networks (and air conditioning) for the good and bad TV shows that tided me through the summer months.

Click through our list and let us know what would make ...

'Breaking Bad' Takes Mid-Season Break

9/6/2012 10:14am EDT
Breaking Bad Mid-Season Break
One of the most popular shows in cable television, "Breaking Bad," is taking a mid-season break like no other; in its final season no less! In fact, they won't be back until next summer with the final eight episodes of season five. Without sounding like a buzz kill, sure hope the show's fans come back after a year.

Titled "Gliding Over All," a direct reference to a poem by Walt Whitman from his "Leaves of Grass" collection, the final episode of the first half of season five was a gripping episode from start to finish. However, for each question that is answered, for each loose end tied up,...

'The Walking Dead' Season 3: 5 Spoilers You Need to Know

9/5/2012 11:00am EDT
The Walking Dead
“The Walking Dead” as admittedly one of AMC’s biggest sleeper hits. It seems unlikely at best: a drama about the survivors of a zombie apocalypse, mixed with government turmoil and love triangles. That's realistic, right? But believability aside, it’s one of the best shows to come out of cable in the last decade. It’s no wonder that fans are frothing at the mouth like zombies to see what happens after the bombshells dropped in the last few episodes of season two (Rick vs. Shane). Before you tune in to the premiere in October, make sure you prime yourself on some of the things that’ll go dow...
