Lea Michele's Rep Asks For Privacy Following Cory Monteith's Death
The publicist for Glee star Lea Michele has asked that the media and public respect her privacy as she mourns the death of boyfriend/co-star Cory Monteith, who passed away over the weekend.
Monteith was found dead in his hotel room in Vancouver, British Columbia on Saturday, when staff at the Fairmont Pacific Rim entered his room after he failed to check out. He was 31.
"We ask that everyone kindly respect Lea's privacy during this devastating time," the star's rep said in a statement.
Lea, 26, and Cory had been dating since February 2012, when they took their relationship public on Valentine's Day. She had been helping him deal with addiction issues, which is the reason he checked himself into rehab for a month this spring. Monteith had dealt with drug addiction over a decade ago, when his family had to stage an intervention.
According to TMZ.com, Cory had been seen at his hotel hanging out with friends before going out for the evening Friday night. He returned alone and his body was found shortly after noon on Saturday.
