Comic Con 2013: Superman & Batman Movie, 'Guardians Of The Galaxy' And 'Avengers 2' Dominate
Saturday was a huge day at this year's Comic Con, especially for Marvel studios.
The superhero movie-making factory had quite a few announcements to make, sending fans who were there (and who weren't there) into a frenzy over what's coming in the next two years.
To start, actor Tom Hiddleston reprised his role as Loki from "The Avengers," and the upcoming "Thor: The Dark World," trying hard to keep a straight face while in character to present the trailer for the "Thor" sequel.
Marvel also previewed next summer's sequel "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" and the highly anticipated "Guardians of the Galaxy." Director Joss Whedon also revealed the title of the second "Avengers" film. (story)
Scottish actress Karen Gillan sported a new hairdo during the "Guardians of the Galaxy" panel on Saturday, revealing that she actually has no hair after shaving her head to play the villain Nebula in the film. Gillan was spotted on Friday with her usual red hair, but revealed that it was actually a wig. The film started shooting less than two weeks ago on England, and most of the cast was flown in and flown right back out after the discussion, including Chris Pratt and Zoe Saldana. (story)
Zack Snyder joined Warner Bros. & Legendary Films for their panel, at the end revealing that the two greatest DC superheroes would be teaming up in the sequel to this summer's "Man of Steel." Actually, they probably won't be teaming up since they never really liked each other anyway. (story)
Thursday at the convention saw the big reveal of new Spider-Man baddie Electro, played by Jamie Foxx. The character starred in a 39-second teaser clip revealing little more than his look and explaining his immense power. He'll be a major problem for Peter Parker in "The Amazing Spider-Man 2." (story)
"X-Men" fans were also treated to something special when director Bryan Singer brought together the cast of the first three films and the cast of the prequels for one big X-travaganza during the panel for "X-Men: Days Of Future Past." (story)
