'Dancing With The Stars': Dull Dancing, An Injury & More

April 29th, 2008 10:01am EDT
Dancing With The StarsSniff, Marlee is gone. No really I'm ok, I swear. Well, six couples remain on "Dancing With The Stars." Kristy has it in the bag still, but things can change. Last night each couple had two dances that were judged by the terrible trio of judges. Will this week seal the fate of the weaker competitors (I'm looking at you Marissa) or will everything change? Tom and Samantha prepped us, and we're ready to go. Quick note, I'm preserving my sanity by listing both dances together, otherwise this would be a mess to read.

Marissa and Tony
We're reminded that last week Marissa had her best score yet. Tony wants her to bring sexy back, and I'm being very good not saying something catty. Marissa seems to have trouble separating the two dances.

Dance 1- Tango
It's always nice when Marissa tries for a more serious look, and she actually is looking quite hot in a very tango-esque dress. No, I'm not a fashion person, and yes tango-esque is a word. Sort of a dull dance, but she does it very well. Can't fault her for the choreography, she pulls it off. Len says it is her best dance. Bruno said great job, and Carrie Ann said the performance was wonderful.

Dance 2- Rumba
One word to describe this dance: slow. The music certainly doesn't help and I wish there was more to say, but it was just dullsville. Bruno said it was nice, Carrie Ann said it was beautiful, Len said it was too careful.

Cristian and Cheryl
Cristian called the moves by the names of the judges, eh, not so cute. To up the cuteness factor they bring out Cristian's daughter, who is dressed as a princess. Manipulation at its finest.

Dance 1- Waltz
Sometimes I enjoy the slower dances, but tonight they seem to lack the passion of past weeks, leaving me sort of bored. Cristian does get to swing Cheryl around on the floor, and she avoids a life, which could have cost them dearly. Bruno said the movement was great, Carrie Ann said energy was lacking, and Len said the dance lacked content, but still nice to watch.

Dance 2- Samba
We finally get some good old-fashioned sexy dancing. Cheryl tried to monopolize the entire dance while Cristian watched her. He sure is standing around while she does her thing. Cristian did pull a muscle during the dance, but he's a trooper and they go to break to check him out. Carrie Ann said he was there for Cheryl, Len said he was brave, Bruno said he's a great dancer. Samantha went right to the scores; she is a caregiver and wants Cristian to get help. Hopefully he's ok.

Kristi and Mark
What more can be said about them? Mark was a bit nervous because he's never made it this far in the competition. They go ice skating, and I get flashbacks of The Cutting Edge, which is probably playing on ABC Family as we speak. Kristi knows she is the best, and so do we.

Dance 1- Waltz
She began the dance holding an umbrella and we got a romantic dance to an Avril Lavigne song. Of course they threw some spins and dips into the steps that were sure to get some attention from the judges. Carrie Ann said it was risky and the turns were off, Len said there was too much theater, Bruno said it all worked. The judges are not on the same page this week!

Dance 2- Cha cha
Kristi is back, she has big hair, and she's not taking any prisoners. Entertaining, even though Mark looked like he stepped right out of a production of "A Chorus Line." Len liked the middle section but didn't like anything else, Bruno said Len is full of cobwebs and loved it, Carrie Ann gave her three snaps, it wasn't very ghetto.

Mario and Karina
Even with a 10, Mario ended up in the bottom two, which is never a good sign. Their little piece really didn't have much weight to it, but maybe it left them time to get out of the bottom.

Dance 1- Fox Trot
Now this was a romantic dance, a bit quicker than the previous ones of the evening. It got a bit sloppy at the end when it looked like Karina fell, but it sure looked liked a dip. Len said he isn't the most elegant of dancers, Bruno said watching him is a pleasure, Carrie Ann said he does good work.

Dance 2- Mambo
Mario should get a lot of credit for getting into the dancing. He wasn't standing around letting her take all the attention. This mambo should get the judges back in the Mario way of seeing. Bruno called it slick, fast, and dangerous; Carrie Ann said he was on fire; Len called it wild, wacky, and wonderful.

Shannon and Derek
Are they a couple or not? Doesn't matter because they flipped out last week after the judges tore into them. Derek put their friendship aside to be a basic drill sergeant, Shannon fueled the love fire a bit more.

Dance 1- Tango
I don't know where the judges were getting their opinions because Shannon and Derek are by far the most entertaiing couple to watch dance. Their tango this week really played well off of their chemistry together with a very dark moody dance. I loved it. Bruno was fascinated by the dance, Carrie Ann called it her best dance yet, and Len said it was terrific.

Dance 2- Mambo
From the start they weren't doing as strongly as the first dance. Shannon was much too stiff this time out, and Derek coudn't make up for Shannon's faults. Carrie Ann called her lines a bit awkward, Len said it looks a bit gawky but good job, and Bruno said she has to control her gangly limbs.

Jason and Edyta
Jason dropped down big time last week. This will be another comeback story, and Jason was happy to be able to bring a bit of football into the dance. Jason said he isn't ready to go home. Will he prove that to us tonight?

Dance 1- Quick Step
He started the dance jumping over Edyta's head, which really set the dance off on the right foot. The quick step wasn't the most interesting dance to watch, but Jason had a lot of fun with it that the judges will hopefully pick up on. Carrie Ann called it fantastic, Len said Jason is in the final, Bruno called it the performance of the night.

Dance 2- Paso doble
They pair were dressed in some football inspired ensemble, and the music was from the NFL broadcasts, I kid you not. The dance itself was a bit so-so, nothing bad about it, just wasn't anything that stuck out. Len said there was a bit too much posing, Bruno called him a winner, Carrie Ann pointed out a lift.

Samantha Harris referred to Jason's teammates as his co-players, I hope she is a dancer next season. Otherwise last night's dual dancing was filled with some dull dancing, an injury, and Kristi's fall from the top. Jason and Edyta are at the top and Cristian and Cheryl are at the bottom, but tonight will tell us who gets to put back on the weight they've lost dancing 24/7.
