Kirstie Alley Spends $40,000 A Year On Lemurs; They're In Her Will (Video)

April 7th, 2010 5:44pm EDT

Kirstie Alley Kirstie Alley's menagerie of lemurs is costing her big - she spends a jaw-dropping $40,000 a year on the animals.

The former Cheers star hires two full-time zookeepers to take care of the nine primates at her home because the animals are so high maintenance.

She says, "I have three new sets of baby lemur twins. I think it's a little bit rare, but we have three females and each one had a set of twins. I don't recommend them as pets for people because they're very expensive. I have two full-time zookeepers that take care of just them. It costs about $40,000 to keep the lemurs."

But Alley insists she's dedicated to raising her exotic family of pets - and has even written them into her will.

She adds, "I've had them for about 30 years. It's a life commitment. They're in my will."
