Alexa Ray Joel Moves Out Of Overdose Home
Alexa Ray Joel is putting her troubled love life behind her and starting afresh after moving out of the New York apartment she suffered an overdose in last year.
Billy Joel's singer/songwriter daughter was hospitalized in December when she complained about breathing difficulties after taking homeopathic medication Traumeel. The breakdown was prompted by a fight with her on/off boyfriend Jimmy Riot, after he refused to accept a Christmas gift from her.
She said, "I was in such a dark place. My soul was shattered. I only felt OK with him. I couldn't play a show without him. I was addicted to this man, and it spiraled out of control. My heart broke all over again."
However six months on, Joel has overcome the heartache and set up home in a new Big Apple apartment in the hope of leaving the messy relationship in her past for good. She tells People magazine, "I threw everything out."
And Joel has also given her music a complete overhaul, writing more uplifting songs compared to her signature tunes about heartbreak and lost loves.
Her mother, supermodel Christie Brinkley, says, "She's written this happy song - I'm grinning just thinking of it."
Joel adds, "You can say I have new musical influences, new apartment, attitude, life... Everything is new."
