Ginnifer Goodwin has blasted allegations she suffers from "body issues" after critics took aim at the slender actress' lifelong dedication to healthy eating program Weight Watchers.
The Walk The Line star was first introduced to the diet plan as a child, when her parents feared she was on the verge of becoming overweight for her age.
The program helped Goodwin to slim down as she developed into a teenager and she has stuck to the Weight Watchers guidelines ever since. The 32 year old admits she regularly counts calories to ensure she doesn't overindulge and relies on an iPhone application to keep her in check.
She tells Marie Claire magazine, "I am genetically predisposed to be a bigger girl than I am. If I didn't live in Hollywood, I would be. I have very real hips and a real Southern woman's a**. (I'm) apping (sic) points all day."
Goodwin's strict diet has attracted negative comments about why she continues to limit her food choices, but the actress insists she does it to stay healthy.
The vegetarian says, "I've never had body issues, and I've never had an eating disorder. Most of the people I know are on the program for health reasons. And yes, some of them are slim women who want to stay slim."
Goodwin, a former vegan, recently relaxed her dietary rules and reintroduced meat and dairy products into her life for health reasons.
